Welcome to Millbrooke Cavaliers! We are nestled on 7 acres approximately 20 minutes north and east of Grand Rapids.
Our
Cavaliers are a part of our Family—we romp and play with
them every day, and of course,
have
lots
of snuggle time.
We
thought long and
hard about breeding, and did a lot of research, before we undertook the
challenge.
Each of
our dogs was chosen for specific
characteristics, which we felt are an asset to the breed.
We
have four adult dogs for
breeding, three
females and one male, but we have two more females and a male that we
will begin to breed soon.
Our Cavs are tricolor,
the classic black and white
with tan
accents, and Blenheims, a rich chestnut on a white background. We
also have a Ruby female who may be bred once more and a tiny
female who may be bred when she is older.
All of our adult dogs have been heart and eye certified by veterinarians who have subspecialized in Ophthalmology and Cardiology. All of our puppies are also eye certified before they leave us to go to their new home.
Our puppies are very special to us. They are raised lovingly-- in our home. We hold and cuddle them each day from day one, which results in a very friendly well-socialized pup. They begin to interact with the other adult dogs when they are about four weeks old, so they are also adaptable to other pets that may already be in their new homes.
All of our puppies have their dew claws removed at 2-3 days of life. They are wormed several times, have their first shots and first heartworm dose before they leave us. We continue with age-appropriate vaccines and monthly heartworm prevention as long as they are with us. We provide a one year health guarantee against potentially fatal congenital conditions.
We
sell most of our puppies with a limited
registration,
which basically means that they may not be bred or compete in AKC breed
competition.
The
puppies may be
registered with the AKC,
which we strongly recommend.
AKC
registration provides your pup and you with information on raising and
training
your Cav, as well as opportunities for certain events, i.e. Agility
Contests or
Therapy Dog Certification, etc. We will occasionally sell puppies
with full registration, for showing/breeding rights.
Cavaliers are indoor dogs and we insist our pups are raised as such. That having been said, they are very adaptable to a variety of environments, from apartments to farms. They are sturdy little dogs, but as with all small breeds, young children should play with them only under adult supervision.
A
word about male Cavaliers…Many people feel that they would
rather have a female, but a neutered male is virtually
indistinguishable from a
female as far as temperament goes.
It
has been said that female Cavaliers love their owners, but that the
male
Cavaliers are in love
with their owners.
We hope that you find your perfect Cavalier and find the same happiness that we have!
